imageBlack Orpington was first introduced in 1886 at The London Dairy Show by William Cook. The birds were created to be all around utility birds with year-round egg-laying qualities and excellent white meat.

The modern standard has a vivid beetle green sheen on the black plumage. The eyes and shanks are dark and the skin and toe nails are white.

Our birds are imported directly from top English breeders.
